saint Joseph, fiancé of the Blessed Virgin Mary

saint Joseph, fiancé of the Blessed Virgin Mary

From the story of his life

The famous carpenter from Galilee, St. Today, Joseph is commemorated in a special way in the hearts of many believers. The betrothed of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the stepfather of Jesus, as well as the protector of the Republic of Croatia, our beloved homeland, the son of David, was of royal lineage, from which the Messiah was to come.

A well-known woodworker, and even at St. Matthew the righteous, was a virtuous, virtuous and above all honorable man. Out of love and faithfulness, following the angel’s announcement, he takes care and responsibility for Jesus, although before the influence of the angel he dreamed of secretly leaving the Blessed Virgin Mary. But what is important… he accepts responsibility humbly before God’s Plan.

Life was not easy… At the census of the population in Bethlehem, and at the scene of the scene of the birth of Jesus, St. Joseph. Again under the angel’s influence, he goes to Egypt because of Herod’s death threat. And so he took refuge and began to work slowly in Nazareth.

With the twelve-year-old Jesus and Mary, he made a pilgrimage to Jerusalem… and there with Mary he anxiously looks for Jesus… finding him in Wisdom, in the Temple.

He was under the law, Jesus’ earthly father. Trusting God and having a good heart, he lived in faith, obedience and sacrifice. The father of the almost most holy Family, sets an example in a special way for fathers…

Even in the 9th century. century, in the Reichenau monastery on Lake Constance, and later through many saints, the veneration of St. in honor of Joseph. Veneration of St. Joseph developed especially with the Franciscan order. In us, through the Jesuits, worship of that unique righteous man developed.

Even the Croatian parliament, on the proposal of the Zagreb bishop Martin Borković, proclaimed on June 9 and 10, 1687 St. Joseph, patron of the Kingdom of Croatia.

On July 14, 2008, at the entrance to the Croatian Parliament, a blessed relief of St. Joseph, sculpted by Šima Vulas, was placed as a permanent memorial to one such parliamentary decision.
