Sacred Heart of Jesus

Sacred Heart of Jesus

From the story

With today’s feast, which we celebrate this Friday, after the second Sunday after Pentecost, we celebrate the importance of the sublime Love of Christ… since the very devotion to the essence of this feast is a feature of contemporary Catholicism.

We find this piety already in medieval mystics, such as Julian of Norwich, Francis of Rome, St. Bernard, and St. Bonaventura.

In the 16th century, it was developed by the Carthusians, and later by the Jesuits… while St. Ivan Eudes, given in the XVII. st theological foundation.

The impetus for the introduction of the Feast of the Heart of Jesus comes from the French town of Paray le Monial, where from 1673 to 1675, St. Marija Margareta Alacoque experienced apparitions.

At the end of his Message, Jesus promises a reward to all those who will celebrate the feast of His Heart: “I promise you that my Heart will spread out to pour abundantly the torrents of its divine Love on all those who will show Him this honor and who will strive to and others report.”

In 1765, Pope Clement XIII allowed the celebration of the Feast of the Heart of Jesus to those who specifically requested it.

After the holiday quickly spread throughout many dioceses of the world, Pope Pius IX. decreed in 1856, by a special decree, that the holiday, today a holiday, is officially celebrated throughout the Church, on the first Friday after the Octave of Corpus Christi.

May our Beloved Savior and Redeemer, who has an open Sacred Heart for all people and deigns to invite us to the Path of Grace and Salvation, because He nourishes, nourishes, and makes us happy forever…

Oh, Heart of Mercy, Love and Comfort, have mercy on us.
